- LMU has five LEED Certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) buildings. The Life Sciences Building received LEED Gold certification in November 2015 and the William H. Hannon Library received LEED Gold certification in 2011.

Fulbright Grants
A record-setting 6 Fulbright grants were awarded to Loyola Marymount University students for 2016-17 – the largest number awarded in a single year.
The students were selected from a group of 13 finalists – another historic record number for LMU.
Webby Awards
Loyola Marymount University was honored for "Best University / School Website" in the 20th annual Webby Awards. Hailed as the "Oscars® of the Internet" by The New York Times, the Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, is the leading international award honoring excellence on the internet.
AACTE Multicultural Best Practice Award
The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) selected the Loyola Marymount University School of Education to receive the 2016 AACTE Best Practice Award in Support of Multicultural Education and Diversity. The annual award recognizes a member institution for the infusion of diversity throughout their teacher preparation curriculum, personnel, policies, and programs.
Excellence in Design of Educational Facilities
LMU's Life Sciences Building was recognized and honored with the "Excellence in Design of Educational Facilities" award by the Los Angeles Business Council at their 46th Annual Architectural Awards.
Harman Innovation Award for Active Learning Space
The Life Sciences Building won the 2016 Harman Innovation Award for Active Learning Space at the UBTech conference in Las Vegas. The award celebrates the way the building uses AV and IT technology to promote hands-on learning among students.
Excellence in Architecture for a New Building
The Life Sciences Building won a 2016 Excellence in Architecture for a New Building Merit Award by the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) and the American Institute of Architects Committee on Architecture for Education (AIA-CAE).
National Innovation Award
The Center for Catholic Education won the Dr. Karen M. Ristau Innovation Award for its comprehensive approach to furthering the mission of Catholic education. The award, given by the National Catholic Education Association, recognized CCE for its innovative and comprehensive approach to providing instruction, leadership and support for Catholic education.
Outstanding Jesuit Program for Students
The Guardian Scholars Program was honored as the year's most outstanding campus program in Jesuit higher education. The program received the Ignatian Medal for an Outstanding Campus Program or Initiative at the 2016 Jesuit Association of Student Personnel Administrators (JASPA) annual conference.
Gold Crown Award
The Columbia Scholastic Press Association awarded both the Los Angeles Loyolan and Tower Yearbook with Gold Crown Awards at the 2016 College Media Convention in New York City. Loyola Marymount University is the only university in the nation to have both its newspaper and yearbook receive the prestigious national award in 2016.
