Announcing Presidential Search Committee

October 14, 2024

Dear LMU Community,

I am writing to share an important update on the presidential search process. Following President Snyder’s retirement announcement last week, the LMU Board of Trustees has formed a Presidential Search Committee (listed below) to identify LMU’s 17th president. This committee includes representatives from our trustees, regents, faculty, staff, students, and alumni, ensuring that voices from across the university community are represented in this process.

As part of our commitment to inclusivity and community engagement, the Presidential Search Committee will host a series of listening and feedback sessions on October 28-29, 2024. We will also provide an online form to collect your thoughts. These opportunities will allow you to share your perspectives on the essential qualities and characteristics of our next leader. Details regarding the schedule and locations will be shared soon, and I encourage you to participate.

To recruit diverse and highly qualified candidates who will advance our mission and priorities, we have retained executive search firm WittKieffer to assist in our efforts. The Presidential Search Committee is also preparing a presidential search website and a dedicated section in LMU This Week to provide updates throughout the process. Our goal is for the LMU Board of Trustees to appoint and announce a new president by its April 2025 meeting. Please note, to protect the integrity of the process and the candidates, the work of the search committee and the board will remain confidential until the new president is announced—an established best practice at LMU and at other leading universities.

Thank you for your engagement and continued dedication to LMU. I am confident that we will identify an inspiring leader who will build upon President Snyder’s impactful accomplishments and shape the enduring legacy of LMU for years to come.

Sincerely,
